The grub2 maintainers recently uploaded a grub2 snapshot which should finally work on much of the usual powerpc hardware, including PowerMac. However, this version relies on ppc-utils 1.0.5 or greater, as requested in this bug report. This makes grub2 for powerpc uninstallable right now, so I plan to NMU this package in the next few days unless there's some reaction from the powerpc-utils maintainers.
