xemacs randomly, but reliably crashes after a few minutes. Since the action triggering this is pretty much random (resizing the window, scrolling in a file, ...), it seems to be a GC problem. Backtraces don't seem helpful, e.g. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~% xemacs Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-helvetica-medium-r-*-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646" to type FontStruct Fatal error (11). Your files have been auto-saved. Use `M-x recover-session' to recover them. Your version of XEmacs was distributed with a PROBLEMS file that may describe your crash, and with luck a workaround. Please check it first, but do report the crash anyway. Please report this bug by invoking M-x report-emacs-bug, or by selecting `Send Bug Report' from the Help menu. If necessary, send ordinary email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]'. *MAKE SURE* to include the XEmacs configuration from M-x describe-installation, or equivalently the file Installation in the top of the build tree. *Please* try *hard* to obtain a C stack backtrace; without it, we are unlikely to be able to analyze the problem. Locate the core file produced as a result of this crash (often called `core' or `core.<process-id>', and located in the directory in which you started XEmacs or your home directory), and type gdb /usr/bin/xemacs core then type `where' at the debugger prompt. No GDB on your system? You may have DBX, or XDB, or SDB. (Ask your system administrator if you need help.) If no core file was produced, enable them (often with `ulimit -c unlimited' in case of future recurrance of the crash. Lisp backtrace follows: # (condition-case ... . error) # (catch top-level ...) zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped) xemacs [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~% -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: alpha Kernel: Linux 2.6.20 Locale: LANG=C, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages xemacs21-nomule depends on: ii emacsen-common 1.4.17 Common facilities for all emacsen ii libc6.1 2.7-5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcompfaceg1 1:1.5.2-4 Compress/decompress images for mai ii libdb4.6 4.6.21-5 Berkeley v4.6 Database Libraries [ ii libgpmg1 1.19.6-25 General Purpose Mouse - shared lib ii libice6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-14 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libldap2 2.1.30.dfsg-13.5 OpenLDAP libraries ii libncurses5 5.6+20071215-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libpng12-0 1.2.15~beta5-3 PNG library - runtime ii libsm6 2:1.0.3-1+b1 X11 Session Management library ii libtiff4 3.8.2-7 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxaw7 2:1.0.4-1 X11 Athena Widget library ii libxext6 1:1.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxmu6 1:1.0.3-1 X11 miscellaneous utility library ii libxpm4 1:3.5.7-1 X11 pixmap library ii libxt6 1:1.0.5-3 X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii xemacs21-basesupport 2007.04.27-1 Editor and kitchen sink -- compile ii xemacs21-bin 21.4.21-1 highly customizable text editor -- ii xemacs21-support 21.4.21-1 highly customizable text editor -- xemacs21-nomule recommends no packages. -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
