I can reproduce this, though I haven't checked the "20 minutes" figure. I'm running amule-daemon on i386 with a remote amulegui. As soon as the daemon is started it connects to Kad and stuff can be searched on that network without problems. Hours later, firing up amulegui again always shows "Kad: off".
