The version don't comes from the rrdtool binary but from librrd2. Maybe you want to update this too. rrdupdate includes the version by itself so this is not hitted bis this "problem" (it is not really a problem since rrdtool works fine with the 1.2.19 librrd).
If this really was the case please close this bug. Alex P.S. it would be nice if you would use reportbug in the future or if you could include informations like installed versions of the package and its deps and the architecture on your own.
