It would make it easier to fix when using dependency based boot sequencing, yes. Your script would need 'should-start: mysql' or similar to make sure it start after mysql if mysql is present. That is exactly the kind of problems I want to see fixed permanently in Debian by switching to dependency based boot sequencing.
