If I'm not mistaken HAL listens to the eject signal from the drive and
it's up to gnome-volume-manager to unmount and eject it. Do you have it
installed and running?

This sounds more like a problem with E17 than Totem.

you're probably right. I don't use it anymore (I'm using gxine; I don't have any eject problem with it). I think you can close this bug, because I didn't have gnome-volume-manager when totem didn't work...
