Sorry, I cannot reproduce it. I have exactly the same gnome package installed and added the example mail you provided to my imap server.

Sorry, i totally misinterpreted that error message. Turns out my actual problem is simply a duplicate of bug #294129, and not related/specific to thunderbird at all.

It does show an oddity in thunderbird, however: the bug is triggered (deterministically) whenever i click on the mail. However, when I change the content-type from `application/octet-stream' to something else, the bug is not triggered anymore. Isn't that strange, given that I haven't clicked the attachment itself in either case?
