  OK, so what's happening is that aptitude is removing packages to
satisfy Recommendations.  I've had a couple complaints about this now,
and there's an easy way to stop this from ever happening.  I'll try it
in the next upload and see what the reaction is.

  I can reproduce the behavior above, and I can verify that with my
patch, aptitude chooses to leave the Recommendations unsatisfied instead
of removing the packages in question.  (what you would expect since it
no longer "knows" that removal is an option)
