I removed it from my system, ran ldconfig, and could not run xemacs:

$ xemacs
xemacs: error while loading shared libraries: libldap.so.2: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

I had to apt-get install --reinstall libldap2 libldap-2.2-7
in order to fix my system.

Thanks for helping me find the problem and fix my system !
