Sven, thanks for the explanation. It's clear and thanks for your patience. I should have checked the version against package.debian.org to see that the new upstream has migrated to unstable. Thanks for verifying it as well, rather than just trusting upstream. It's a matter of judgement. I swapped to Debian from Ubuntu because the quality control of Debian is high, so I'm a "verifier".
