The problem is that matlab and scilab's main support forum is one of these newsgroups and so yes we are judged by our reactiveness on these groups..
Sure I'd suggest sending a message to this list with a title like "Read this before posting to this group" and give the mailing lists and Nabble archives as the suggested means of support.
