iirc, some choke at 512, some at 1024.

If that's the case, you can use the options menu to change the "Preferred
Media Type" (see cut/paste):

  Preferred media type (!)         : . Accept lynx's internal types .
  Preferred encoding (!)           : . Also accept lynx.cfg's types .
  Preferred document character set : . Also accept user's types     ._
  Preferred document language      : . Also accept system's types   ._
  User-Agent header (!)            : . Accept all types             .SL-MM/1.4.1
                                   ................................
