Hi,

I'm experiencing a problem that results in the same error message, which might
be related. My xterm crashes when trying to display some UTF characters, with
the following error:
        xterm: warning, error event received:
X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist)
Major opcode of failed request: 77 (X_ImageText16)
Serial number of failed request: 338
Current serial number in output stream: 339

This is easy to reproduce, try running this in xterm:
        echo -e "\0304\211"
which immediately crashes xterm.

If this also crashes your xterm, these issues might be related (or they might
still be something entirely different, of course).

Does your xterm / .profile / .bashrc or something else print stuff on startup?
Might it be that there is a weird character in such a message that throws off
xterm? Perhaps the message changes after the X server was started for some
time?

Gr.

Matthijs
