Whoaaaaa!!! That's a mistake on the order of calling an executable "test" and being surprised that it doesn't work from the command line. :-) Will fix ASAP, thanks very much for reporting.

the file core in /usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/ is deleted by
dh_clean, like statet in the manpage, and so not contained in the .deb.
You should rename it for example to laptop-mode-core.
