package: kernel

version: 2.6.22, 2.6.24

Attempting to install Lenny using netinstall.

The hardware:
MSI K9A2 CF mainboard w/AMD 790X chipset, AMI BIOS 2.61, Realtek 81xx
Gigabit Ethernet, Athlon X2 5400+, 2 X 1 GB Kingston DDR2 667. This bug
is identical using an ECS A780GM-A Black series mainboard with AMD 780G
chipset and the same AMI BIOS version 2.61.

Upon install I get the following error;
PCI: BIOS BUG: MCFG area at e0000000 is not E820-reserved
PCI: Not using MMCONFIG
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 3 of device 0000:00:00

Using 'installgui' configuration of Realtek Ethernet fails. Works with
normal install. This may be a seperate issue.

It appears that the kernel is not properly mapping memory. Booting
ubuntu 8.04 works fine. Memory is properly mapped and working fine. Same
with Mandriva live CD. Ran memtest and memory showed no problems.

I did manage to get lenny installed but the kernel only sees half of the
memory and the system is very sluggish.

Here is the output of 'dmesg | grep -i memory';

Freeing initrd memory: 6389k freed
Total HugeTLB memory allocated, 0
Freeing unused kernel memory: 324k freed
