I'm trying to set the defaults for the applet system-wide using the gconf defaults mechanism (I've tried modifying files under /usr/share/gconf/defaults and running update-gconf-defaults as well as modifying /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/%gconf-tree.xml). The defaults appear to be picked up (the keys under /apps/panel/default_setup/applets/sensors_applet/prefs have the expected values once I stop gconfd, wipeout the user .gconf* dirs, and restart gdm; to make sure gconf doesn't write old values someplace thus ignoring the new ones), but when the new sensors_applet_screen0 is created on login, the high_values have the default <int> [60000,60000,60000] settings. In the above mentioned key they are 64000,55000,64000, for this particular machine. So far I can't figure out how to set (by script) system-wide defaults for the sensors-applet (so that all users have the same defaults, without having the manual set the temperature ranges in their copy of applet in their panel). I don't want to resort to a cron job or something like that.
