Is the machine still pingable when the problem occurs? Can you log on
with ssh and try to catch a backtrace, see whether X is stuck, ... ?
Does the mouse still work ?

Do you know when the bug appeared for the first time? Can you go back in
the past and try previous libgl1-mesa-dri packages? (snapshot.debian.net
will help getting old packages)
