Package: libpcap0.8 Version: 0.9.8-3 Severity: wishlist Please introduce a flag to mark captured outgoing packets whose checksum is not correctly calculated yet (because it will be done in hardware), both in the live packet capture interface and in the packet dump file. Such a feature would be highly useful for network flow analyzers that attempt to verify checksums, and would remove a common source of confusion among users.
On Linux, packets using checksum offloading can be identified by having the TP_STATUS_CSUMNOTREADY flag set in tpacket_hdr.tp_status, see also the following message and the surrounding thread: http://archive.netbsd.se/?ml=linux-netdev&a=2007-10&m=5580368 -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.25 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libpcap0.8 depends on: ii libc6 2.7-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries libpcap0.8 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
