i tried to reproduce your bug. What do you mean by "woody packages packaged by the programmer"? If i install http://downloads.powerdns.com/releases/deb/stable/pdns-static_2.9.17-1_i386.deb in woody, and upgrade nothing happens, as the package is called pdns-static, so the pdns package does not get upgraded. But if i install package "pdns" now, i get: dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/pdns-server_2.9.17-12_i386.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite `/usr/bin/pdns_control', which is also in package pdns-static dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe) Selecting previously deselected package pdns-recursor.
