Unfortunately, the adding libraries trick doesn't seem to be doing anything useful for me. I'm afraid I'm not in a position where I can easily revert to QT version 4.3 on any of my machines at the moment. If someone else gets a chance to do this, though, I suspect it would be worth a go, at least to eliminate the possibility, as the symptoms seem very similar to those observed with LyX.
