I closed the bug too soon. I had forgotten that linux doesn't experiences the difficulties as predictably as 98se. Anyway the bug is still there, and is in 0.9.0 (I tried a snapshot from snapshot.debian.net).
I'll see if I can get some time to do the git bisect thing this month. -- And that's my crabbing done for the day.
