*** Please type your report below this line *** Since a very recent version, I can select between different suspend mehtods in /etc/default/acpi-support. The help comment says, that the method acpi-support is now deprecated. This not a good idea because my Notebook (Compaq Evo N410c) needs that. It cannot resume with all the other suspend methods. I have also lots of notebooks in the office that need the prepeare scripts in /etc/acpi/suspend.d.
