Hi Alan, I think the bug log has gathered all relevant information but just isn't conclusive on either one. I therefore suggest to just upload the package to unstable and have the FTP-masters decide on this - is this acceptable to Debian or not? That is, follow the reasoning by FSF or the one by some of the debian-legal participants? After all, FTP-master is the final authority on this.
