Actually, it is quite probable (I am not the Rails maintainer, so he might still have a say on this) that Debian Lenny ships with Rails 2.0.2, as we are nearing the freeze... So, if there is code incompatible with 2.0.2 and you want to use it in our next Stable release, you should keep a 2.0-compatible branch of that code. Alternatively (but I advise against this, as you'd lose all support), you can "freeze" your app's Rails to any specific version you are using.
