This bug is now tagged DUPLICATE #359133 (<http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359133>) by upstream. The comment from upstream is "Newer versions of GNOME should be using GIO instead, which should have this problem fixed." I am shoked by upsreams definitve answer.
