I propose that a grub option be added to disable all uses of UUIDS, and that this option be made the default, given that automatically generating grub.cfg boot entries can result in a non-booting system, and that many people prefer human-readable config file entries in the Unix tradition and not a bunch of hexadecimal garbage in our fstabs and boot config files.

Failing that, I propose that a boot loader which does not require the use of UUIDs be made the standard Debian bootloader.
