It took me a while to figure out that this was because I su'd to root without - and thus /etc/profile was not read, so I did not have any sbin in my $PATH. Openvpn should be able to handle this situation, without depending on the environment of the caller, either by hardcoding paths or setting $PATH. The best way would, of course, be to get rid of /sbin/ifconfig and use /bin/ip for everything. I'd gladly assist with the translation of all the commands if you sent me a list. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.25-2-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages openvpn depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.22 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.7-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii liblzo2-2 2.03-1 data compression library ii libpam0g 0.99.7.1-6 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8g-10.1 SSL shared libraries openvpn recommends no packages. -- .''`. martin f. krafft <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : :' : proud Debian developer, author, administrator, and user `. `'` http://people.debian.org/~madduck - http://debiansystem.info `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing systems
