Because a fresh etch install with debootstrap followed by a upgrade
to sid (and a reboot) does not mount /dev/shm ?

Perhaps it should have worked to install (etch) udev before upgrading to sid.
I do not know which package mount /dev/shm. I suppose that it is udev
(as I do not have it mounted before and now it is mounted after each
reboot) but I'm not sure (it can also be a dependency pulled by the udev
install)

To me, it seems that current tools allow to have a up-to-date working sid
where /dev/shm is not mounted (and udev not installed).
And, in this case, installing udev needs to manually mount /dev/shm
one time in order to be able to configure (by dpkg) udev.
After udev installed and the machine rebooted, /dev/shm is still mounted.

If you think the setup without /dev/shm is broken, please reassign this
bug to the package that mounts /dev/shm.

  Best regards,
    Vincent

PS: I'm going on vacation now. I will not read my email during 2 weeks.
