It is a GNOME component and relies on python-gnome. The package postinst
applies the necessary changes but that might not have worked on your
setup. Please the following, which is a suggestion from upstream README.

  WARNING: You might need to run gconftool-2 --shutdown, if you're installing
  from a running gnome session.

But please first read the man page about that parameter since it can
have side effects.
