Subject: grub-pc: New environment variables (for gfxmode and background path and other) Package: grub-pc Version: 1.96+20080724-2 Severity: wishlist
*** Please type your report below this line *** I would like to avoid to edit scripts in /etc/grub.d from grub-pc because dpkg does not overwrite it during update - leaves the old version noninteractively. My only change in 00_header script is "set gfxmode=1024x768". It overwrites default 640x480. I would like to keep the gfxmode variable in /etc/default/grub. By the way, I propose introduce variable for background image path, e.g. BACKGROUND=/usr/share/images/GRUB-bg.png. I have yet another suggestion about adding new variables to /etc/default/grub. Is it possible to append the new variable declarations to existing file instead of totally overwritting or totally keeping (during update by apt)? -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (101, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.25.4-rt2-2 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages grub-pc depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.22 Debian configuration management sy ii grub-common 1.96+20080724-2 GRand Unified Bootloader, version ii libc6 2.7-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii liblzo2-2 2.03-1 data compression library ii libncurses5 5.6+20080713-1 shared libraries for terminal hand grub-pc recommends no packages.
