Bug#287085: kernel-image-2.4.27-1-386: apt-get upgrade fails to configure kernel-image-2.4.27-1 - depmod exited with return value 1

I believe this bug can be closed, as it seams to me the problem is gone.

My system no longer has any problems installing or upgrading kernel images.

I really do not think any reason for the problem would ever be found, and 
keeping the bug open is simply not needed.
