retitle 219188 unintuitive handling of syntax error in Provides thanks The error message from the back end is now fairly explicit about the nature of the parsing problem, and the build fails; furthermore, the comments in template.ctl now mention that the dependency fields need to be comma-separated. I'm feeling that this is enough to close this bug. I'm leaving the final decision to the package maintainer, though. Possibly a crude syntax checker for the control file could be devised; that should certainly handle all of #219188, #251673, and #247974.
