Later we made a minimal example:

\documentclass{minimal}
\usepackage{amsmath}

\renewcommand\normalsize{\fontsize{9pt}{10.5pt}\selectfont}

\begin{document}
Big delimiters: $\bigl[ \bigr]$ End of test.
\end{document}

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ $ dvipdfm -v c.dvi

c.dvi -> c.pdf
DVI Comment:  TeX output 2008.08.20:1010
[1<[EMAIL PROTECTED](TFM:cmr9)(ENC:f7b6d320)><[EMAIL
PROTECTED](TFM:cmex9)>](PFB:cmr9)(PFB:fmex9)
Compression eliminated approximately 1398 bytes
10182 bytes written

Using that example I can't reproduce the problem any more in TL
2007. Can you? Should be close the bug now?
