Oh man, I thought it was still using 8.3.  We should get the expect
maintainer into this discussion.  An 8.4-nothread package introduces a
whole set of its own problems.  (Like unexpected conflicts.)  My
preferred solution _for now_ would be to have expect built against
8.3.  But since it's not my package....

I've been trying to get a debian-tcltk list set up to help discuss and
coordinate issues of this sort, but it hasn't happened yet.
