tag 497492 -moreinfo tag 497492 upstream confirmed thanks Hi Brian,
Brian May [2008-09-05 11:32 +1000]: > What Steve Cotton said, while interesting, I suspect this shows that the > message is not related to my crashes. It does, since the crash happens due to a SIGPIPE, when a cups subprocess without stderr tries to write this warning to stderr. > > Just to make sure, is there any runtime config option to disable this > avahi stuff? We don't need it. Yes, you can use "BrowseProtocols CUPS" (or any other list which does not include DNSSD). > I also noted that the kernel on this xen guest virtual host is old > (2.6.16) - could that be related? We will try upgrading, probably to > 2.6.18, but this may take several weeks. The kernel version is unrelated to that. I cannot reproduce the crash (it is a race condition), but I can do something to silence the warning, to prevent the crash from happening. Thank you!
