I have tried again using the same root image, only using a copy of the image instead of using a copy on write image with the root image as a backing store (which obviously takes more space). The full image works but creating a cow image and using that does not.
It appears guest hald causes problems for the copy-on-write mechanism as the guest hangs during hald startup (at least for ubuntu 8.04 hald). After the hal freezes mconsole is unable to stop the session and attempting to mount the filesystem as a second drive in another uml session (after killing the first) results in the uml session hanging. -- And that's my crabbing done for the day. Got it out of the way early, now I have the rest of the afternoon to sniff fragrant tea-roses or strangle cute bunnies or something. -- Michael Devore GnuPG Key Fingerprint 86 F5 81 A5 D4 2E 1F 1C http://gnupg.org The C Shore: http://www.wightman.ca/~cshore
