I just uploaded a new upstream version to mentors.debian.net which includes a
fix for this bug.
I did not agree fully with you in the sense that this option should be removed
considering the upstream developers really added this as a feature. So instead
of removing it completely I removed it from the configuration dialog while
leaving the option intact in gconf.
The default behaviour has been changed so that it will silently skip files that
are not images.
Waiting for the package to hit debian archive before closing this bug.
