I stumbled over this problem today and have to add the following: 1. "convert a.jpg a.pdf" is fine 2. "convert a.jpg -annotate +550+780 'UH' a.pdf" is broken Evince (and other poppler based PDF readers?) can open both files without problems. Acroread (on Linux and on Windows) exits with the following message "There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this document (14)." Using convert from Etch (7:6.2.4.5.dfsg1-0.14) makes Acroread happy. Regards Evgeni
