So gtk is allowing a shortcut to be set w/o a modifier, but only if you first set a shortcut with one? For the same menu item? I'm pretty sure gtk is not intended to allow unmodified keys as shortcuts, it'd be far too error-prone to allow that, certianly. -- see shy jo
