Package: sqsh
Version: 2.1-8+b1
Severity: wishlist

The sqsh man page contains very few information about how sqsh interacts
with freetds config. I finally found out that I had to fill the
/etc/freetds.conf file because it would use that to find, e.g., the
tds version to use to communicate with the server. I couldn't even find out how
to confirm if my sqsh
(installed from aptitude) was compiled with freetds support or with
something else.

For sure sqsh should not duplicate freetds documentation in its own man
page, but maybe a little note explaining how to know which subsystem
sqsh will use, and then directing the user to the subsystem
documentation, would be very useful to make him win plenty of time!

Also the -S servername option is not clear enough, IMHO. How to specify the
port number? I used an undocumented ip:port scheme for the "server name". And
what should be the "server name", if it is not his IP? A DNS name? An entry in
the freetds.conf file? Naturally one can find out by trial and error,
but a documentation is always better than trial and error!

An other remark, the documentation talks in several places about Sybase.
It is not always clear where the given information also applies to MS
SQL Server. E.g., is the -I interfaces option useful for MS SQL?

I am afraid I may not use the correct terms,
but I hope I am clear enough... Kindly tell me if you need
clarifications for some points...

Thank you.
