Package: fetchmail Version: 6.3.9~rc2-3 Severity: minor I'm interested in (ab)using fetchmail as a kind of imap biff -- that is, I want it to print a line whenever the number of \seen mail in my IMAP inbox changes. This nearly works with fetchmail --check --idle, but unfortunately it doesn't update when I *remove* mail INBOX:
$ fetchmail --check --idle --verbose [...] 11 messages for trentbuck at imap.gmail.com. fetchmail: IMAP> A0022 IDLE fetchmail: IMAP< + idling fetchmail: IMAP< * 11 EXISTS fetchmail: IMAP> DONE fetchmail: IMAP< A0022 OK IDLE terminated (Success) fetchmail: IMAP> A0023 IDLE fetchmail: IMAP< + idling fetchmail: IMAP< * 11 EXISTS fetchmail: IMAP> DONE fetchmail: IMAP< A0023 OK IDLE terminated (Success) fetchmail: IMAP> A0024 IDLE fetchmail: IMAP< + idling fetchmail: IMAP< * 9 EXPUNGE fetchmail: IMAP< * 11 EXISTS fetchmail: IMAP> DONE fetchmail: IMAP< A0024 OK IDLE terminated (Success) 11 messages for trentbuck at imap.gmail.com. fetchmail: IMAP> A0025 IDLE fetchmail: IMAP< + idling fetchmail: IMAP< * 5 EXPUNGE fetchmail: IMAP< * 5 EXPUNGE fetchmail: IMAP< * 5 EXPUNGE fetchmail: IMAP< * 5 EXPUNGE fetchmail: IMAP< * 5 EXPUNGE fetchmail: IMAP< * 5 EXPUNGE fetchmail: IMAP< * 5 EXPUNGE fetchmail: IMAP< * 4 EXISTS fetchmail: IMAP> DONE fetchmail: IMAP< A0025 OK IDLE terminated (Success) It ought to print "4 messages ..." here! fetchmail: IMAP> A0026 IDLE fetchmail: IMAP< + idling [...] -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_AU.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages fetchmail depends on: ii adduser 3.110 add and remove users and groups ii debianutils 2.30 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libc6 2.7-14 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcomerr2 1.41.2-1 common error description library ii libkrb53 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-4 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8g-13 SSL shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.2-20 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip Versions of packages fetchmail recommends: ii ca-certificates 20080809 Common CA certificates Versions of packages fetchmail suggests: pn fetchmailconf <none> (no description available) ii msmtp-mta [mail-transport-age 1.4.15-1 light SMTP client with support for pn resolvconf <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
