It would be great if you could try again with a stock Debian kernel rather than a custom kernel. If that does indeed show the same issue, it would also be great if you could try with the latest version (mondo 1:2.2.7-1 atm).
We're using 2.20-1.1 on other machines and they work just fine. The old machine will eventually get replace anyway, so I think it is safe to assume that this has something to do with the custom kernel. Hence, I think the bug can be closed.
