Hi again, Julien, I saw the fix coming to amd64, with ".11" revision of libsane-extras, but, it is not in i386 target yet (as well as s390, but this does not concern me)...
... and this is the architecture I use on the machine where I need it, and for which this bug was initially filled. Sorry to bother you agaun, but Is there anything particular, maybe freeze-related, that is blocking this package from coming in Sid i386 (and hence, then in Lenny i386) ? Anyway, though a little rough, I managed to tweak udev install script so they do not block anymore during their install on an OpenVZ container (I say it is rough, because, I basically removed writings to /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug and prevented it from initially populating /dev - which allows udev to be installed, by making it unactivated)... well, this was just to test before your fix becomes ready, and, anyway, I can confirm it solves my problem (I then just have to make a few things in /dev/bus/usb/ accessible to the container, and it is OK)...
