I have a version of pommed that you could test; maybe the MacBook Pro can be supported if Apple did not change the way the LCD backlight is controlled. It's been tested on a MacBook5,1 already and it didn't work there, but maybe they kept the same interface on the MacBook Pro because of the dual GPU config. So it needs testing :) Note that for proper support you'll also need a set of kernel patches for applesmc, usbhid and the trackpad driver. Probably not in mainline before 2.6.29. In the meantime, can you send the output of lspci -nn on your machine?
