Nautilus is supposed to be launched automatically by gnome. If it is segfaulting, then it isn't going to run. The --no-desktop flag was for testing, so as not to clutter the issue with irrelevancies.
You get the exact same result if you *don't* pass the flag: $ nautilus Initializing gnome-mount extension Initializing nautilus-open-terminal extension seahorse nautilus module initialized Segmentation fault so under no circumstances can SIGSEV be considered "expected behavior."
