Hm, the upstream tarball contains the doc/htm directory which has all of the HTML already there, and it seems human-readable to me. I don't know if this is a peculiarity of a recent release, but can't that html directory just be packaged as it is? HTML is a pretty transparent format. Does it matter how they generated it?
