-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Package: transmission-daemon Version: 1.40-4 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 10.7.2 and 10.7.3
/etc/transmission-daemon/settings.json is only a symlink to /var/lib/transmission-daemon/settings.json which points to the wrong target by the way. The real configuration file is /var/lib/transmission-daemon/info/settings.json. This is a violation to 10.7.2 of the Debian policy resulting in local changes being overwritten during upgrade which is a violation of 10.7.3. A solution could be to move settings.json to /etc/transmission-daemon make it owned and writeable by debian-transmission. Place a symlink to that file in /var/lib/transmission-daemon/info/ and make /etc/transmission-daemon/settings.json a conffile. - -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-amd64-k8-custom (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages transmission-daemon depends on: ii adduser 3.110 add and remove users and groups ii libc6 2.7-16 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcurl3-gnutls 7.18.2-7 Multi-protocol file transfer libra ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8g-14 SSL shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.2-20 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii transmission-common 1.40-4 lightweight BitTorrent client (com ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-12 compression library - runtime transmission-daemon recommends no packages. transmission-daemon suggests no packages. - -- no debconf information - -- Marcus Blumhagen "Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent.
