mailx | mailutils as Recommend would be nice.

Hello,

Erik Andresen wrote (27 Dec 2007 14:32:30 GMT) :
backupninja should not depend on mailx or mailutils.

Please move that to the "Suggest" line instead.

A lot people like to use this software without having any mail stuff
installed.

I do understand your concern, but the default backupninja
configuration has mail reporting enabled, so we really need to have
mailx or mailutils installed by default along with backupninja.
Moving this line to "Suggests:" would break any new backupninja
package installation.

Maybe a compromise - though I'm not sure it's really clean
policy-wise - would be to:
- downgrade "mailx | mailutils" to be a Recommends. As apt and
  aptitude now install recommended packages automatically, most users
  will get a working setup out of the box. On the other hand, one
  would be allowed to have the backupninja package installed without
  any mail stuff.
- add a note to the package description, in order to explain that
  "mailx | mailutils" is really a requirement in the default config;
  else, we'll get tons of bug reports for broken default
  configuration from people who have disabled recommended packages
  auto installation

Micah, any thoughts on this? I'm sure there's a cleaner way to
achieve this, but I don't manage to guess it.

Bye,
