That's a splashy problem. default/theme.xml is a splashy file, not a desktop-base file. Check splashy is installed correctly, purge it and reinstall it if needed. And check if /etc/splashy/theme is a symlink or not. (it should be, as splashy changed this some versions ago, which led to this mess) Cheers, -- Yves-Alexis
