There's something wrong with your system. I'd say you stopped in the middle of dist-upgrading from Etch to Lenny or tried to do some nasty things using apt pinning ;-)
If you want to use clive on Etch, download source package from Sid and rebuild it; upgrading python-central to newer version because clive needed it wasn't a good idea.
